Enlarging a photo means creating new pixels that weren't in the original, which normally leaves the result looking soft. This tool scales the image up in careful steps and applies a sharpening pass afterward to bring back a crisper look.
Is this the same as AI upscaling?
No, and we'd rather be upfront about that than overpromise. Dedicated AI super-resolution tools use trained models to invent plausible fine detail that isn't in the original image. This tool doesn't do that — it enlarges and sharpens using standard image processing, which works well for moderate enlargements but won't recover detail from a very low-resolution source.
When does this work best?
Results are best when enlarging a reasonably clear photo by 2x. Going to 4x, or starting from a very blurry or heavily compressed image, will show more softness no matter what processing is applied.
