The direct download above is WebM — it plays in almost all modern browsers, video players, and editors, but not natively on iPhone. Trimming re-records the video in real time, so it takes as long as the trimmed clip's own length.
The "Convert to MP4" button is a beta feature: the first use downloads a real video converter (~25–30MB, once per visit) and runs it fully in your browser — nothing is uploaded. It's genuinely more reliable for MP4 playback everywhere, including iPhone, but it's slower and newer than everything else on this site. If it doesn't work, your WebM download above is unaffected and still works.

How this works
Your browser plays the video from the start point you choose while recording the frames directly, stopping automatically at the end point. Because it's a real-time recording, a 20-second trimmed clip takes about 20 seconds to produce.
